The agreement was ratified first by the pilots of Iberia Express and subsequently by Iberia pilots. Both airlines emphasized that the indefinite nature of the agreement provides a framework for long-term stability. They noted that this stability is crucial for International Airlines Group (IAG) to continue investing in Madrid and developing a competitive European hub.
Competitive Positioning
The new agreement is designed to strengthen the competitive position of Iberia and Iberia Express, allowing them to maintain their leadership in the short- and medium-haul markets originating from or destined for Madrid. It also sets the stage for future development.
In terms of employment growth, the deal is projected to generate opportunities with the hiring of 80 pilots and 160 cabin crew members. Additionally, it will facilitate professional advancement with 69 promotions to captain in Iberia and 36 in Iberia Express.
